ASP.NET 3.5 Web Hosting
Tachyon CMS is built on ASP.NET 3.5. I’m still trying to find a good web server to host this site and my other web sites.
I’m currently hosting my web sites on a Linux plan with 1&1. Unfortunately, 1&1’s ASP.NET hosting only supports version 2.0 and they don’t seem to have any plans to upgrade to 3.5 in the near future. The reason is probably the expense. They will have to change the operating system to Windows 2008 and this may required upgrading thousands of computers in their data centre.
As a result, I’m looking at other companies for ASP.NET 3.5 hosting. The main things I look for in a hosting package is:
- ASP.NET 3.5
- PHP 5.2
- MSSQL 2005 or 2008
- MySQL 5
- SSH
SSL would be a definite plus and I wouldn’t mind spending a little more per month to have it. The option for reselling hosting would also be useful.
